(Srilankamirror) – All citizens should extend their support to the government after setting aside their differences and stopping all forms of protests and strikes at a time when Sri Lanka is facing threats from local and foreign conspirators, said Lanka Nurses Union chief Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera.

The prelate made the request during a speech to a meeting of government pensioners in Narahenpita.
He said unity was essential to overcome intimidations and various allegations being levelled against the country by powerful countries.
The nurses union president said that as a person who has interests of the country at heart, he would never approve of protests and strikes.
In a democracy, anyone has the right to fight for rights, but the interests of the country should be the priority, Ven. Ananda Thera added.
